Beer Neutralizers are herbal supplements that reduce the two unpleasant side effects associated with beer consumption and other alcoholic beverages: the weight gain from the carbohydrates and the morning-after hangover.

How beer neutralizers work

Carbohydrate blocking mechanism:

The natural white kidney bean extract used helps to inhibit alpha-amylase function. This inhibition helps prevent starches or complex carbohydrates from being broken down into maltose (and further to glucose) and used as energy if required by the body or stored as fat. Instead the starches and complex carbohydrates are passed through the digestive system unchanged and undigested. Alpha-amylase is a digestive enzyme that can be found in the small intestine and in the saliva. It breaks down starch into smaller carbohydrate units known as maltose that are eventually changed into glucose, a simple sugar.

Glucose is then absorbed into the bloodstream from the intestine, which causes a very quick rise in the serum levels. The glucose is then shuttled throughout the body to be used as energy by every cell. Excess glucose that is not used immediately or stored as glycogen in the liver is stored as fat in the body to be used later when energy sources are scarce.
